I created this pattern as an example for a class I was teaching. I challenged seventh graders to create a mandala circle drawing based on a memory. The motifs in this pattern are inspired by my memory of climbing into my parents bed at night. While they slept, I would pick away at the paint above their headboard. Someone had painted over flowered wallpaper and, as I peeled back the paint, little blue flowers would appear. The room faced east and the sun would start to brighten the sky before my parents would eventually wake up and discover my creative/destructive activity.
