Patagonia, a fascinating eco-clothing company, has a wonderful recycled clothing project where one can return certain polyester clothing to the company. Patagonia will then recycle the fabric back into clothing, creating a closed-loop process of creation and recycling and re-creation into clothing.
I am proud to announce that Xmittens qualify for the Patagonia recycling program!
The fleece I use is high-quality fleece that will be accepted by Patagonia. If you decide you need a new pair of Xmittens and are done with your old pairs, you can send them back to me. After I receive enough to justify sending a package (to save on carbon fumes from the shipping process), I will send used Xmittens items to Patagonia. All Xmittens items also qualify for recycling.
Xmittens customers will receive 15% off a new order from Xmittens if they send them back for this program!
Please contact me before sending me Xmittens, so I know to expect them. I will also repair Xmittens for a very small fee, saving energy even more by not entering them into a recycling program. Contact me with any questions.
**Interesting fact: most plastic bottles are not usually recycled back into recycled bottles. Instead, they are re-made into shipping packaging, fill for pillows and other home and industrial (and mainly short-term) uses. This is because if recyclers were to create new bottles out of old ones, they would be too weak to actually hold liquid very well. However, the fabric that is made from these bottles is extremely durable and functional. Yay!
